The Alarm filter option

    The Alarm filter option

Reduce message overload and keep track of important alerts

In the event of a malfunction, numerous reports can be generated within a very short time. The Alarm filter option of the Alarm Control Center recognizes defined message patterns and automatically suppresses subordinate, recurring, or related messages.

This prevents new and important alerts from getting lost in a flood of messages. Service, maintenance, and on-call teams maintain an overview and can focus more quickly on the actual cause of the malfunction.

Three filter types are available for different fault situations:

    • Sequence filter
    • Flood filter
    • Flutter filter

The filters can be configured to suit the system. Information messages can be displayed on request, providing details about active filters and suppressed messages.

    Alarm filter option

    Suppress sequence messages

A single fault can trigger numerous notifications from secondary affected components. The Sequence filter identifies these based on common criteria.

After the initial alarm message, subsequent messages are suppressed. Independent alerts will continue to be sent.

    Automatically limit flood of messages

In the event of a power outage or network disruption, a large number of messages can arrive simultaneously.

The Flood filter detects this flood of messages based on the number of incoming messages within a defined period. Relevant messages are suppressed, while others are forwarded.

    Recognizing recurring flutter messages

Unstable sensors or fluctuating signals can trigger the same message repeatedly.

The Flutter filter detects such repetitions within a defined time window. Recurring notifications are suppressed, while new events still trigger alerts.

    Stay informed despite filtering

Suppressed messages can be saved in the ACC archive. This way, they remain traceable later.

Additionally, informational messages can be sent:

    • when setting a filter
    • after a certain number of suppressed messages
    • after a set period of time

The Sequence filter also allows filtered messages to be summarized in a collective message.

    Configure alarm filters appropriately

The filter criteria can be adapted to the existing systems and messages. Among other things, the following can be taken into account:

    • Message text
    • External ID
    • Alarm group
    • Source agent
    • Reporting priority

Wildcards and regular expressions are also supported. Filters can be reset automatically or manually. The status overview shows which filters are active and how many messages have already been suppressed.
