The basic installation of the Alarm Control Center (ACC) already offers you many options for increasing the availability of the alarm. For applications in which the reliability of the alarm management must be very high, the Alarm Control Center can also be set up redundantly. Due to the automatic switchover, an alarm system is always available for alerting.
The channels of the Alarm Control Center create the connection to the local telephone system, to the push service on the Internet, to the SMS terminal and to many other systems in order to forward messages to the right recipients. In the Alarm Control Center it is possible to create several channels for the same communication infrastructure.
For example, if an SMS terminal fails in the first building due to a power failure, there is still the SMS terminal in the second building, which can be addressed by the Alarm Control Center.
This happens fully automatically and without the user having to intervene. As soon as the SMS terminal is available again in the first building, this will of course be recognized by the Alarm Control Center and used again.

Many control systems today already have the necessary fail-safety. This is usually made possible by a second, identical process control system. If one system fails or has to be shut down for maintenance, the other system takes over fully automatically.
Our agents can also be designed redundantly for precisely this case. As soon as the control system, which previously acted as the "master", is no longer functional, the agent becomes active on the redundant partner and reliably sends the messages from there to the responsible personnel.
Once a message has been successfully received by the core system, the Alarm Control Center aims to deliver this message to the recipient - come what may. There are various mechanisms that guarantee this.
A queue in front of each module makes it possible to record a large number of messages in a short time, to store them temporarily and, if necessary, to persist them in the database. Even restarting the computer is no longer a problem because the alarm can simply be continued.
Another component, the so-called router, is located in front of the channels and decides which message is sent via which channel. The channels report their status to the router. In this way it is possible to react quickly to a failure of a channel.
The router also has a queue: If a channel is not available, the messages are saved and sent as soon as the channel is available again. Even if a problem occurs during sending, for example an SMS, the channel sends the message back to the router and it can be redistributed.
If you want to increase reliability many times over and achieve load distribution in the event of a large number of messages, the Alarm Control Center can also be set up redundantly.
The mechanisms described above can be used to address a second alarm control center at another location and thus increase availability.
If a system cannot be reached by the agents of the control system, the messages are sent via the redundant Alarm Control Center. If a channel is currently in a state in which it cannot process messages, the message is also forwarded to the redundant ACC. This can happen fully automatically, for example, if the telephone system is busy or the SMS terminal is not available.
Of course, the configuration changes to a system are automatically tracked on the redundant Alarm Control Center.
With this option, the connected control systems and the telecommunications systems can be monitored through cyclic testing. In the event of deviations and faults, the responsible personnel are notified immediately. This ensures reliable operation even with critical processes.
