The OPC UA agent enables the connection of the Alarm Control Center to an OPC UA server. It reads out data such as message text, alarm bit, client or alarm group from the connected OPC UA server. These can then be used by the Alarm Control Center for alarm processes.
OPC UA (Unified Architecture) is the successor to the old OPC Classic standard and has a platform-independent, service-oriented architecture. Communication no longer takes place via COM/DCOM, but purely binary via TCP/IP.
OPC UA also integrates the functionality of the previous OPC Classic standard into an expandable framework.
The OPC UA agent processes incoming and outgoing messages that are received from an OPC UA server.
The structure preceding the OPC UA server is irrelevant. Whether the connected OPC UA server is a single PLC, a complex control system or even a chain of control systems to whose last link the OPC UA agent is connected makes no difference to the agent.
The OPC UA agent connects as a client to the OPC UA server mentioned and subscribes there to the data it requires.
Import made easy: The existing configuration of an OPC DA agent (in Excel) can easily be transferred to the Excel template of the OPC UA agent and imported using an import function.
